Management
Since we took on the management of Mattaponi in 2005 our emphasis has been to provide the best conditions we can for the flora and fauna to thrive; to open up previously inpenetrable areas and allow improved access to the whole site in order that we can better enjoy all that Mattaponi has to offer.
The management can be divided into three main areas:
1 Removal of invasive non idigenous species (aliens).
2 Control of dense vigorous indigenous species to allow for the introduction and re-generation of less vigorous species as well as improved access.
3 Increasing the range of plant species by the introduction of plants indigenous to the area and by propagating and planting important species already growing on the site.
